New Job

I'm starting my new job tomorrow. Let me explain- I had a different, seemingly less permanent position at work for the last year. Someone just retired last Friday and I'm taking her position. I used to be a floater and work everyone's job on their day off. Now, someone else is the floater and I finally have my own desk! I cleaned and reorganized it friday and put up pictures I brought from home. Doing this made it more real for me.

My anxiety and fears are overwhelming me now. Tomorrow is my first day doing this job not as a floater. I'm feeling inept. Can I really do this job? As a floater, I just did the basics of the job, but now there's all the little things that DeeDee's job entails and now I'm the one expected to do them. Can I live up to those expectations?

I'm so afraid of failing and letting other people down.

On top of all that, I'm trying to navigate my way through all of my boy issues. How confusing and triggering.

  3. You will be FINE. It's normal to have doubts and fears like this. You already know the basics of the job, that's a head start! The little things will come to you, too.

    Good luck xxx

  4. Best of luck in your new job. I just started a new job. It was the same job I'd done before but in a different field so it was totally different. My biggest tip would be to ask questions! They won't expect you to know everything all at once. I was so scared that asking questions would make me look incompetent but my new manager said that it actually made me look keener to learn and the more questions I asked the more it looked like I wanted to learn. That's something that really helped me.

I also find being at work around 'normal' people really helpful for my ED as well (in a positive way that is!).

Best of luck with it all xoxo

  5. I can relate to fear and anxiety, they stop me doing almost everything.
Your boss had faith that you can do this job so have faith in yourself and your abilities. Don't listen to that voice in your head that tells you you can't do this.
    That voice lies.

Wishing you lots of luck x

  6. To be honest, I find it much harder to remember all the little, basic things of everyone else's job, without really grasping it to depth, just mechanically helping out - you'll do much, much better doing one thing at a time and perfecting it!

  8. Good luck! You can do it! Maybe it will make you feel better having a securer job and not a 'floater'? I'm sure everyone has doubts and fears on their first day of a new job, but I'm sure you'll learn fast! Have faith in yourself and enjoy it! Best of luck! X

  9. Of course you can do the job! They wouldn't have offered it to you if they didn't know that! You're capable and you're strong! Instead of thinking about b/p, think about the great qualities you have. Make a list!

    Keep strong and good luck!
